Finned tubes are a type of heat exchange tube that is installed with fins on the surface of ordinary straight tubes by welding, winding, or rolling. This increases the surface area to achieve superior heat exchange efficiency.
Working Principle: Heat is transferred from the hot fluid to the fins through the tube wall, then to the cold fluid. The increased area reduces thermal resistance and destroys the boundary layer for maximum performance.
